Ball valve castings regulate the flow of a liquid or gas from just a trickle to a full flow thru a pipe. A ball valve’s main feature is a hollow ball with a hole or port through the middle, that’s in the center of a pipe connector that can be turned by the attached handle. Turn it one way and the ball is seated across the pipe and totally blocks flow through the pipe. Turn it the other way, and the port of the ball is parallel to the pipe and flow moves freely. Valve castings can be cast from brass, steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloy and even cast iron. They can be used to replace globe valves, gate valves, stops and other types of inline valves.
