Rapid Prototyping Service - Process Recommendation - Precision Casting Experts
Do you need parts finished immediately?
You get the most perfect rapid prototyping techniques to meet your most immediate needs:
- Machinable Waxes
Very hard machining wax designed for proofing, CNC programs, constructing models, prototypes and master patterns. Machinable wax machines easier than plastic tooling boards or metals without sacrificing quality of finish, surface detail or accuracy of dimension.
- Epoxy and Silicon Molds
Pourable epoxies and silicone rubbers are designed for rapid prototyping of tooling, general plastic tooling and silicone mold-making. They offer high accuracy.
Sterolithography equipment scans a single cross section of a CAD design onto a vat of liquid photopolymer resin. The resin is transformed from liquid to solid in thin, highly accurate layers. This computer-driven process is repeated, layer-by-layer, until the prototype is complete.

Non Destructive Testing
Non Destructive testing identifies surface and internal imperfections safely
Rapid prototyping and small quantity productions of actual cast parts in many cases may ship within one to two weeks.
Precision Casting Specialists
Experts in producing your highly intricate and detailed castings.
Shelmet's short run precision casting specialists have significant experience managing
any size metal casting run from 1 piece projects to 50,000 detailed parts having
weights ranging from a fraction of an ounce to over 10 pounds
Investment casting is less costly than other methods of metal casting work such
as die-casting and machined components. “ Near Net-Shape ” is a benefit provided by the investment metal casting process that reduces the amount of metal casting material waste and labor costs. All popular metal alloys can be poured in the investment process giving your
project the most versatile design possiblities and highest tolerance controls.
Stronger materials, better surface finishes, thinner walls, complex internal
configurations. As you can see from the following charts, investment casting
offers many advantages over alternate metal processing techniques.
Over 100 Metal Alloys
Shelmet Investment Castings pours more than 100 different ferrous and
non-ferrous metal alloys with the newest advances in investment casting
Investment Casting Tolerances
The cost of any part increases in direct proportion to the precision of the
part's tolerance requirements. This factor in determining a part's cost applies
to castings, as well as fabricated and machined parts. Investment casting,
however, is designed to minimize the cost of producing parts within a tight
range of tolerence
