Non ferrous investment castings use metals and metal alloys that do not contain iron. Instead nonferrous castings usually focus on alloys of two or more of the following metals and elements: aluminum, cobalt, copper, nickel, titanium, tungsten, zinc, precious metals and other non-iron compounds.

Nonferrous metals chosen to form a certain alloy are selected based on the characteristics desired in the castings. Such attributes may not be characteristic of a single metal, but when combined the resultant alloy will be stronger, resist certain corrosive influences or have magnetic and electrical properties only possible with an alloy.

Alloys that are used in non ferrous investment castings are chosen for the properties required by the application, including tensile strength. Nonferrous alloys are also versatile and have a high density. They are invaluable in applications that need to be lightweight, yet have high strength while at the same time be non-magnetic.
